Netflix's best movies to watch this weekend are very exciting, with different genres offering a wide variety of picks so that every subscriber can find something they like. On last weekend's Netflix movie recommendations, the chosen films were No Time to Die, KPop Demon Hunters, and From the Ashes: The Pit.
This time around, I thought we could take a break from Netflix Original movies, given the streamer's attention is on the recent release of Bridgerton season 4, and dive into the exciting licensed content on the platform. That includes an underrated sci-fi movie, a horror film with the most likely Best Actor winner at this year's Academy Awards, and a hard-hitting drama.
3 Bones & All (2022)
Starting us off is Bones & All. Coming off Timothée Chalamet's nomination for Best Actor at the Academy Awards for Marty Supreme, the film is the perfect alternative for those who are on the Chalamet train but have already checked out his latest work or do not want to make the trip to the theater this weekend.
Directed by the talented Luca Guadagnino, Bones & All stars Chalamet as Lee and Taylor Russell as Maren Yearly. The girl eats the people she loves, and amid a road trip to find her mom, she crosses paths with Lee, someone who shares her "eating disorder." Bones & All is a wild ride with gorgeous visuals, a unique story, and great performances. It leaves Netflix on February 27.
2 M3GAN 2.0 (2025)
Continuing with the blood but not the people eating is M3GAN 2.0. The movie is a sequel to the hilarious sci-fi hit M3GAN, only this time, the title robot shifts from a villain to an anti-hero. M3GAN has to protect Gemma, her creator, and Cady, her best friend, from AMELIA, a new android created from M3GAN's original schematics.
While the first movie in the sci-fi franchise was more horror-focused, M3GAN 2.0 should have a broader reach on streaming, as it is more of an action-adventure film with plenty of hilarious moments. In fact, it has become a streaming sensation, as M3GAN 2.0 is currently the most-watched movie on Netflix in the United States. If you have not checked it out, then you're missing all the fun!
1 Eleanor the Great (2025)
Finally, the last movie on the list is very different from the two that came before it. Eleanor the Great is Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut. That alone makes the movie worth watching, but the film does present more substance than just the talent attached to it. And what talent that is, as June Squibb leads the picture as Eleanor.
The drama tells the story of the 94-year-old Eleanor as she forms a bond with the young journalist Nina Davis (Erin Kellyman). Together, the duo is the face of a tale that showcases a powerful message about grief, moving on, and finding friends in the most unlikely of places. These three movies on Netflix are worth watching, each offering something different to enjoy.
