Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things BoschMission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

Russell Crowe has been something of a shapeshifter — able to disappear fully into a role — but he became the sweatiest, angriest, most furious and most frothing man alive in Unhinged, one of the handful of movies released in 2020 when all of us were stuck in our homes learning how to crochet and do TikTok dances. A nasty, fast-paced little thriller, Unhinged sees Crowe star as a man who is named Man (we are not making this up) who takes traffic jams and impolite driving to heart, to say the least. There's not much to the plot, but Crowe is absolutely brilliant as a commuter who decides to take out his anger on Rachel (Caren Pistorius) following a bout of road rage. If this sounds like your kind of evening, lucky for you, the movie is streaming gratis, for nada, free of charge only on Tubi. The official synopsis is as follows:

"Rachel is a single mother whose bad day gets even worse when she beeps her horn at a fellow driver during rush-hour traffic. After an exchange of words, she soon realizes that the mysterious man is following her and her young son in his truck. The initial case of road rage quickly escalates into full-blown terror as Rachel discovers the psychopath's sinister plan for revenge."

The cast also includes Gabriel Bateman as Kyle Flynn, Rachel’s son; Jimmi Simpson as Andy, Rachel’s friend and divorce lawyer; Austin P. McKenzie as Fred, Rachel’s brother; Juliene Joyner as Mary, Fred’s girlfriend; Stephen Louis Grush as Leo, the gas station customer who saves Rachel from Tom; Anne Leighton as Deborah Haskell, Rachel’s client; Michael Papajohn as Homer; Lucy Faust as Rosie; Devyn Tyler as Mrs. Ayers; Samantha Beaulieu as the cashier; and Andrew Morgado as Richard Flynn, Rachel’s ex-husband and Kyle’s father.

Is 'Unhinged' Worth Checking Out?

Honestly, yeah. While the movie didn’t exactly win over critics — it sits at a 48% on Rotten Tomatoes — it does offer a refreshing change of pace for Russell Crowe, who fully leans into playing an outright villain. What really makes the film unsettling is how grounded it feels; the idea that a stranger could genuinely snap during a moment of road rage is way too believable. Audiences were far more on board, though, with the film pulling a strong 77% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter.

If you’re in the mood to buckle up for one of 2020’s most bonkers thrill rides, Unhinged is streaming on Tubi. Just, remember, if you accidentally cut someone off, just apologize. It'll help you in the long run.
