A+E Studios has named Chris Sanagustin as head of current programming.
In her new role, she will oversee a variety of scripted projects for A+E, including Netflix’s “The Lincoln Lawyer” and the untitled Lars Kepler project.
She will report to Tana Jamieson, co-head and executive vice president of creative affairs. Sanagustin and Jamieson previously collaborated on the A+E series “Bates Motel.”
“Chris is an exceptional creative leader with whom I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating when I was on the network side so this is a full circle moment to have her join us now at the studio,” said Jamieson. “Her track record, global experience and instinct for championing bold storytellers makes her a tremendous addition to our team.”
Prior to joining A+E, Sanagustin served as president of Pine Tree Entertainment alongside her producing partner Bill Prady, who co-created “The Big Bang Theory.” At Pine Tree, Sanagustin developed and sold series to Apple TV, CBS, Hulu, Netflix and other distributors with a mission to bring underrepresented voices to screens around the world.
Sanagustin also previously served as head of Brazilian original content for Netflix, doubling the slate while overseeing shows like “Cidade Invisível,” “Sintonia” and “Ninguém Tá Olhando.” She also worked at Universal Television on series such as “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The Good Place” and “Will & Grace.” And her earlier posts included senior creative positions at Universal Cable Productions, SYFY and the WB Television Network.
Sanagustin is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, and she lives in the Silver Lake neighborhood in Los Angeles with her son.
