A new episode of The Rookie will arrive on ABC tonight, but fans don’t have to wait quite so long to get a first look at what’s going to happen. Collider is happy to partner with ABC to exclusively preview a new sneak peek at The Rookie Season 8, Episode 4, titled “Cut and Run.” In this new sneak peek, which can be found below, Angela and Wesley discuss looking for a new house. The episode as a whole will follow Nolan and Bailey as they witness a murder in public and immediately spring into action to search for the person responsible, while Angela and Wesley discuss their future.

Not long ago, The Rookie shifted release days for the first time in years. Fans had become accustomed to the show airing new episodes every Tuesday at 10 PM ET, but ABC announced that it was moving back to Monday at the same time to make room for the new series, RJ Decker. Tuesday has always been one of the biggest days of the week for ABC — even now, new episodes of Will Trent and High Potential are released on Tuesdays. The Rookie certainly won’t suffer because of this move, but it should help RJ Decker get off the ground.

Since it first came on the air all the way back in 2018, Nathan Fillion has been the leading star of The Rookie. Fillion has even worked with comic book savant James Gunn for years now, first on the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and later in DC projects like Superman and Peacemaker. Fillion is also famous for his roles in popular shows such as Castle and Firefly, which both went off the air over 10 years ago.

How Long Will ‘The Rookie’ Be Around?

The Rookie has been around for almost 10 years, and fans are starting to ask questions about just how long the show can continue. Last year, Fillion said that he would like to see The Rookie end in 10 years. ABC has been releasing new seasons of The Rookie yearly since 2018, so this would likely mean nine or 10 new seasons of the hit procedural. While no news of renewal or cancellation following Season 8 has been confirmed yet, it would certainly be tough to say goodbye to The Rookie after almost 20 seasons if Fillion gets his wish, but all good things must come to an end sooner or later.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of The Rookie, and watch the new episodes of the show on Hulu or Disney+.
