Call of Duty players are feasting this month
Image: Treyarch/ActivisionTreyarch is continuing to show exactly what excellent post-launch support looks like for a multiplayer game, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 2 is set to introduce a colossal amount of new content, much like Season 1 did a couple of months ago.
Image: Treyarch/ActivisionAcross both the launch of Season 2 and the mid-season update, Season 2 Reloaded, we're getting nine new multiplayer maps, including the return of four fan-favorites from previous Black Ops games. Here's the full list:
- Torment (new - launch)
- Sake (new - launch)
- Nexus (new - launch)
- Slums (remaster - launch)
- Torque (new - mid-season)
- Mission: Peak (new - mid-season)
- Cliff Town (remake of Yemen - mid-season)
- Grind (remaster - mid-season)
- Firing Range (remaster - mid-season)
Alongside the nine maps, we're also getting seven new modes and playlists, seven new weapons, a bunch of attachments, new events with cosmetic rewards, ranked play (finally), and more.
FPS connoisseurs — aka those who have played the phenomenal Titanfall series — will be familiar with the infamous Smart Pistol, which auto-locks onto enemies, removing the need for accuracy or precision. Well, it's coming to Black Ops 7 in Season 2 in the form of the Lockshot scorestreak, which requires 450 score to unlock.
"A sleek smart pistol with three rounds that can lock onto multiple targets," reads the description. "A single trigger pull eliminates every locked target in quick succession." Combined with the overclock abilities, which allow you to lock on to one additional enemy or reduce the time it takes to lock on, Lockshot has the potential to be seriously powerful.
That's all just in multiplayer. In Endgame, Guild Strikes are the headline, which are new higher-difficulty zones with a new Strike Boss and better rewards, alongside the Eagle Eye skill track, which is focused on dealing increased critical damage.
Meanwhile, in Zombies, we're heading to Mars for the fourth survival map, in an ancient temple beneath the planet's surface. Cursed Survival is a new mode, with a "Black Ops 3-inspired points system." Starting Room, a fan-favorite mode from Black Ops 6, also returns, where you're permanently trapped in the starting room.
Finally, Warzone is giving Rebirth Island a winter makeover, coating the map in snow and adding a new point of interest, alongside "terrain and layout changes." Ranked Play: Resurgence is coming back, as are events, including Infil Gas Explosions, which has exploding gas bombs throughout the map, and Snowstorm Gas, which "gradually swallows the island in poisonous, intense blizzard-like conditions."
