The Canadian Game Awards has announced a new partnership and a new date for their 2026 show. The awards were originally set for February 21, 2026, but will now be moved to May of this year. This comes as part of the announcement by the Canadian Game Awards of their partnership with XP Gaming. The date change means the award show will be held alongside the XP Games Summit and the Eh! Games Showcase, both of which celebrate Canadian-made games.
The XP Games Summit is centered around the business of video games and brings game companies and developers from all over the world to Toronto to connect international brands with Canadian talent and studios. XP Gaming also has events in other provinces, including Montreal and Vancouver, with the same goal. The Eh! Games Showcase offers players a chance to find new Canadian-made titles, demo new games, and opportunities to speak to the creators themselves.
For the Canadian Game Award creator and Executive producer, Carl-Edwin Michel, this partnership seemed like the perfect match.
"Holding the Awards alongside XP Game Summit builds on what the Canadian Game Awards have always been about. It gives creators the recognition they deserve and keeps the focus on the games themselves through both the Awards and the Eh! Game Showcase."
Gaming is a $5.1 billion dollar industry in Canada, and these two events are seeking to raise the profile of the country in the global market even further. Jason Lepine, CEO of XP Gaming, is proud of the conference’s contributions so far.
"The global game industry comes to XP Game Summit to do business with Canada. Last year, more than 350 companies representing over 18 countries came to Toronto to connect with Canadian studios and talent. Partnering with the Canadian Game Awards helps show the world the depth of our industry and gives everyone a chance to celebrate it together."
Last year's winners of the Canadian Game Awards include Saskatchewan-based winner Balatro, Star Wars: Outlaws, Dragon Age: Veilguard, and more. Additional details regarding the new dates and tickets for the 2026 Canadian Game Awards and Eh! Game Showcase will be announced in the coming months. The XP Game Summit is scheduled for May 21–22 at the Hyatt Regency Toronto. ScreenRant will be covering the path to the awards as well as more exclusive details as May comes closer.
