Before NCIS season 23 can tackle Ellie Bishop's comeback storyline, CBS has already effectively spoiled what will happen to her when she reunites with MCRT. Because CBS ended the first half of 2025-2026 TV cycle late, its scripted programming is still on hiatus. NCIS season 23's extended break leaves viewers waiting longer to learn about what happens to Bishop's reunion with the MCRT.
The NCIS season 23 fall finale ended with arguably the biggest twist of the year. For her first mission with ELITE, Jessica Knight is tasked to hunt down Bishop. Emily Wickersham had a short cameo at the end of the episode, leaving fans with a massive cliffhanger. Instead of waiting until after NCIS season 23's winter break to be over, CBS has effectively spoiled what the future lies for Wickersham's character.
Bishop Happily Returns To Navy Yard In NCIS Season 23, Episode 12
Per the new preview, Wickersham's return story will continue in NCIS season 23, episode 10, "Her," where her character reaches out to Nick Torres for help after she gets "designated a wanted cyber-terrorist." Because of the way Bishop was written out in season 18, her reunion with MCRT is more complicated, as it means also dealing with the unfinished business she left. Despite all of these factors, fans now have a guarantee that all will end well for the character.
In addition to the synopsis for "Her," CBS has also released a few promotional stills from the episode. Two of them feature her and Torres sharing the screen for the first time since their heartbreaking separation half a decade ago. However, the more interesting image from the outing is Bishop back in the Navy Yard headquarters, hugging Kasie Hines with Timothy McGee looking happy in the background.

CBS Breaks NCIS' Cardinal Rule For The First Time Ever
After 23 years on the air, CBS breaks a cardinal rule for NCIS for the first time ever, setting up an interesting future plot for the MCRT.
This confirms that whatever goes down in the outing, all the animosity that has been hanging in the air between Bishop and her former team eventually dissipates. Being able to reunite with the MCRT brings back a flood of good memories, and that would have been enough to make up for an otherwise heartbreaking separation with the way she decided to leave MCRT.
What's Next For Bishop After Her MCRT Visit?
CBSFor now, it has been confirmed that Wickersham is only confirmed to appear in "Her." What happens to her specifically next will depend on how MCRT will resolve her current situation. Assuming that she continues to be an undercover agent, it's safe to say that she will go back to her old job, which means that it might not be a while before she resurfaces again, if ever. Admittedly, it's a disappointing idea, considering that it would have been great to see her with her old team again for NCIS' 500th episode milestone.
The good thing, however, is that the show will likely have ironed out the issue that had been left unresolved by Bishop's exit for the last five years by the time "Her" ends. Despite her current situation, it would be much easier for her to look back at her life in Navy Yard and know that she still has allies there. Once she decides to end her undercover agent days, perhaps, she might even consider rejoining the team in NCIS.
