Jake has also worked for other publications, including Agents of Fandom.
Channing Tatum is having a really impressive moment. Following rave critical success for his true crime action comedy flick Roofman, which features Tatum's "career-best performance" according to Tania Hussain's review for Collider, the Alabama-born actor has returned with yet another critical smash via the ongoing Sundance Film Festival. The last to take place in Park City, Utah, the 2026 Sundance Film Festival has been blessed with Tatum's Josephine, an intense, moving drama that also stars Gemma Chan and newcomer Mason Reeves.
Following the movie's premiere, Josephine is now the rare holder of a perfect 100% score from critics on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Although from just 13 reviews at the time of writing, to earn a perfect score is no easy feat, with one of those 13 critics, Collider's Taylor Gates, gushing over the movie in her official review. "Josephine is a coming-of-age story in a tragic, uniquely feminine way," she wrote, later adding, "It’s a tough watch, and it never presents easy answers, but there’s an undercurrent of hope that keeps it from ever being overly punishing and even a few moments of much-needed levity to balance out some of the bleakness." A logline for the movie reads:
"After 8-year-old Josephine accidentally witnesses a crime in Golden Gate Park, she acts out in search of a way to regain control of her safety while adults are helpless to console her."
Channing Tatum's Other 2026 Project is Very Different
Image via SundanceTatum fans are in for a treat in 2026. Not only is Tatum starring in the emotionally devastating Josephine, but he is also reprising his role as Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday. In 2024, Tatum shocked the cinematic world by appearing as the character in Deadpool & Wolverine, a film overflowing with notable cameos. Thanks in part to Tatum's appearance, the film raced to huge box office success at a time when the MCU is more 'miss' than 'hit' at the box office.
The upcoming Doomsday will feature Tatum alongside Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Anthony Mackie (the new Captain America), Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Danny Ramirez (the new Falcon), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Letitia Wright (the new Black Panther), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), and many, many more.
