Chase Infiniti Earns BAFTA Nomination After Oscars Snub For ‘One Battle After Another’ Role

Chase Infiniti has received her flowers from BAFTA after being snubbed by the Oscars.

The One Battle After Another breakout has been nominated for best Leading Actress at the BAFTA Film Awards, which take place in London next month. It adds to her Rising Star nomination announced last week.

Infiniti, who played the willful Willa in Paul Thomas Anderson’s drama, will compete for a BAFTA mask with Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), and Emma Stone (Bugonia).

Infiniti’s nomination follows an outcry over her exclusion from the Academy Awards, with co-star Leonardo DiCaprio among those arching an eyebrow. DiCaprio, who plays Willa’s father Bob Ferguson, told Associated Press that she was the “heart and soul” of One Battle After Another.

Infiniti was not the only actor to rebound from Oscars disappointment. Hamnet star Paul Mescal is up for Supporting Actor at the BAFTAs, while Odessa A’zion is among the Supporting Actress nominees for Marty Supreme.

If Infiniti is searching for a good omen ahead of the BAFTA Film Awards, she need only look as far as Mikey Madison, who was last year nominated for Leading Actress and Rising Star, taking home the former for her work in Anora.

One Battle After Another has a total of 14 nominations, the most of any film this year. Nominations include Best Film, Best Director for Thomas Anderson, and DiCaprio will compete for Leading Actor.

The Traitors star Alan Cumming will preside over the BAFTA Film Awards, which takes place at London’s Royal Festival Hall on February 22.
