An avid comic book fan since she first read "Stan Lee's Soapbox," Allison Hambrick is your friendly neighborhood generalist writer. Journalism, editing, media production, copywriting—she does it all. From her very first blog post about Smallville as a primary schooler, Allison developed a passion for superheroes and the entertainment industry at large.
Majoring in writing and film at SCAD, Allison put her skills to work writing, editing, podcasting, and more. Currently, she moonlights as an editor at the ASHRAE Journal by day and Screen Rant by night. Allison also previously worked for Warner Bros. Entertainment and for Disney.
Through her writing, she hopes to inspire, to entertain, and to empower others to be the best versions of themselves, and her mission in life is to make Stan proud. In her free time, she enjoys reading, video game design, traveling, and spending time outside with her dogs, Loki and Elphaba. Allison is fluent in movie quotes, and her favorite film is Superman II.
Over a decade since James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy bolstered his film career, Chris Pratt is optimistic they will work together again, even though the director has since moved on from Marvel to DC. The duo have collaborated on both the initial 2014 film as well as its two sequels and a spin-off Christmas special.
As a result, Pratt, who played Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the superhero franchise, has been speculated as a candidate for Gunn to bring over to the DC Universe, as the filmmaker is known for casting his friends in his films. Recently, the Jurassic World star addressed the possibility of suiting up as one of DC's most iconic heroes. "I sent [Gunn] a picture of myself with a Batman mask on," Pratt revealed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz. "It was actually... I did it in Photoshop. And he just said, 'Haha.'"
"So, I think it's safe to say I'm not going to be Batman," he quipped. Pratt then sarcastically remarked, "You know what? I don't want to do it anyway." Despite his reaching out to Gunn about playing Batman, Pratt noted that "it was never an option."
"There [have] been so many Batman [actors]—Like, what do you do?" Pratt added, noting how Batman's long cinematic legacy makes him a more complicated role to tackle. He continued: "I don't know how to play [Batman] because it's like even the choice made by Christian Bale to do that voice now seems like it's self-parody at this point a little bit; I think you have to just like completely find a brand-new way to reinvent that."
"That's really tough... [because] one beautiful thing we had going for us with Guardians of the Galaxy was I was the first iteration of that character on screen," Pratt said. "You're always going to be compared against the people who have played the character before and so, eventually, it becomes almost too hackneyed to be able to make... And so that's a tough gig for anybody. There are some actors out there that I think could do it really well, though."
As for whether he would join the DCU in another role, Pratt is open-minded. He has been vocal about wanting to work with Gunn again, and it is unlikely that would happen for a fourth Guardians film. However, Pratt hasn't revealed his dream DC role just yet.
"I always try to lead with mystery because I think it would be amazing to be able to do it," Pratt clarified. "I think there's some that I think I could play, and he probably feels the same way." The actor then noted he is not just playing coy: "I'd like to be mysterious and lead people on a little bit, but in all honesty, I don't know."
"I would love to work with him again, though," Pratt said of the Guardians of the Galaxy director. While he is open to a DCU debut, Pratt may be busy with Marvel, seeing as he's long teased the return of Star-Lord.
