Dragon Ball is officially returning with two new projects, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a remake of the Battle of Gods arc, and Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, set to cover the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc. Both of these anime were announced in Japan on January 25, 2026, at the Genkidamatsuri event to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary.
Fans are particularly excited about The Galactic Patrol, as it offers a long-awaited continuation of the series, directly followingthe Tournament of Power. This series will center on one of the most iconic villains in Dragon Ball Super and will finally animate some of Goku’s greatest moments yet.
Dragon Ball’s Next Arc Will Be One of the Best Yet
The Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc stands out in comparison to other Dragon Ball Super arcs, primarily through its central antagonist, the “Planet-eater” Moro. Rather than raw power, he’s known and feared as an ancient sorcerer, capable of draining the energy and life force of entire planets.
The challenges Goku will face will push him to new, thrilling heights and could very well become one of his most unforgettable and defining moments in the series.
Moro’s presence alone creates a sense of unpredictability and tension as the series turns to darker, more ruthless villains. To defeat him, Goku and Vegeta must act alongside new allies and returning Z-Fighters, making each battle feel intense and hard-won.
Paired with deeper lore about other characters, such as the Supreme Kais and Majin Buu’s past, the arc offers not only epic battles and team-ups but also deeper worldbuilding that adds depth to the franchise and its characters.
Moro Drives Goku To Achieve His Greatest Feat Yet
Beyond its battles and lore, fans can look forward to Goku’s best arc yet in Dragon Ball Super. Given Moro’s abilities, Goku can’t simply overwhelm him as he had with past enemies. Instead, he is forced into an unfamiliar position that challenges his traditional battle approaches and leads to a major breakthrough.
Through training and under Merus's guidance, Goku learns to confront his limitations and to use Ultra Instinct without relying on extreme conditions. During the arc, he achieves a perfected form, allowing him to use Ultra Instinct far more effectively and to demonstrate a clarity he hasn’t shown before in Dragon Ball Super.
As an arc filled with high-stakes, epic battles, and unprecedented character growth for its heroes, Dragon Ball Super’s next arc will deliver some of the series’ greatest moments. The challenges Goku will face will push him to new, thrilling heights and could very well become one of his most unforgettable and defining moments in the series.
