Warning! This article contains spoilers for Wonder Man season 1.

Wonder Man is the latest MCU TV show, with the story's conclusion leading many to wonder whether a season 2 could happen. Where Marvel's TV shows are concerned, the road has been somewhat bumpy. WandaVision and Loki got the MCU's Disney+ ventures off to a great start, before middling returns like Secret Invasion saw the excitement dwindle.

This, as well as the status of Marvel's Daredevil reboot, led to the franchise's TV side undergoing a structural, creative overhaul. From this came Wonder Man, a character study unlike anything else in the MCU. Wonder Man's reviews have pointed this out, conveying just how much the show moves away from the superhero franchise it is part of, and delves instead into character and the world of acting.

As evident by Wonder Man's Rotten Tomatoes score, this approach has worked. The show, led by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the titular lead character of Wonder Man's cast, is entirely unique in its storytelling, structure, and tone, setting it apart from every other MCU show thus far.

Despite how different Wonder Man is, the show never stops being compelling. As such, by the time episode 8's ending rolls around, audiences will undoubtedly be wondering about Wonder Man's future. With that in mind, here is everything we know about Wonder Man season 2, from whether it will even happen to potential cast members and storylines.

Wonder Man Season 2 Has Not Been Confirmed

As of January 27, 2026, and the debut of Wonder Man on Disney+, Marvel Television has yet to confirm a second season. Given that Wonder Man was created under the Marvel Spotlight banner, the show focuses intently on its characters and their real-world problems, with any superpowers or wider MCU links coming secondary.

This means that the show was crafted as a limited series. Often, in the MCU's case, before the creative overhaul, this means that only one season will be created, allowing the characters involved to appear in future shows and movies across the franchise's vast world. Wonder Man is no different, meaning a second season is not currently in development, though this could change.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios' head of TV, Brad Winderbaum, indicated that Wonder Man was split between Marvel's pre-overhaul structure and the new format:

"The original shows were created as limited series... That made it challenging to make season 2s... But there are shows that were caught in the middle. I'd put Wonder Man on that list where we have to see. Season 2s could be on the table if people watch."

Winderbaum went on to say that, if Wonder Man only had one season, it would work as a complete story. However, he anticipates that audiences will want more from Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery, sharing his hope that that happens. If so, and season 1 is successful, Wonder Man season 2 could be greenlit after all.

How Wonder Man Season 1's Ending Sets Up A Season 2

If Wonder Man season 2 does happen, season 1's ending sets up the potential story to come. Throughout season 1, the focus is on Trevor Slattery being coerced by the Department of Damage Control to find out more about Simon Williams and his mysterious ionic powers.

In Wonder Man season 1's ending, Trevor takes the fall for Simon by playing the Mandarin once more, thus being locked up by the DODC. This leads Simon to break Trevor out of the DODC's prison, with the former showing a much better grasp of his power set. If Wonder Man season 2 were to happen, this final scene sets up a sequel.

As of Wonder Man season 1's ending, the character's powers have grown greatly, and he has directly antagonized the DODC, who were still set on capturing him. This, as well as the in-universe tease of a Wonder Man sequel by director Von Kovak, could lead to more Simon Williams stories being told in the MCU.

Wonder Man Season 2 Cast Details

In a future in which Wonder Man season 2 is confirmed, it is likely that the majority of cast members from season 1 will return. Of course, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II would return as Simon Williams/Wonder Man. The same would be said for Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, given that Wonder Man season 1 established him and Simon as somewhat of an inseparable pair.

The main antagonist to this duo, as he was portrayed in season 1, would be Arian Moayed as P. Cleary, an agent of the DODC. X Mayo's Janelle would likely return, too, as Simon's close friend and agent. Alongside her would also likely be Shola Adewusi and Demetrius Grosse as Martha and Eric Williams, respectively, Simon's mother and brother.

The MCU's newest show just got a very impressive Rotten Tomatoes score. Here's why that's a very good sign for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Zlatko Burić would also likely appear in Wonder Man season 2 as Von Kovak, the in-universe director of the Wonder Man reboot that Simon is cast in. Given that Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is heavily involved in Wonder Man, it could be possible that characters from those movies pop up in a potential sequel.

Will Wonder Man Become An Avenger In The MCU?

Wonder Man from the MCU with his Marvel Comics counterpart behind him.

As is the case with every new character introduced to the MCU, the burning question for Wonder Man's future is whether Simon Williams will become an Avenger. If the answer to this question were to be based solely on the tone and overall narrative of Wonder Man's story, it would be no.

Wonder Man, outside of Trevor's appearance and some very loose references to his roles in Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi, is incredibly self-contained. The references to the wider world of the MCU and even the depiction of superpowers are minimal, meaning it would be difficult to see Simon Williams making the jump to a massive Avengers-level project.

However, the potential is always there with the MCU. Wonder Man season 1 ended with Simon having a stronger grasp on his powers, meaning season 2 could lean more into the superhero side of the character than season 1 did. With Trevor by his side, Simon has close links to characters once linked to Iron Man and the soon-to-be Avenger, Shang-Chi.

This could see Wonder Man becoming more of a main hero in the MCU, if Wonder Man season 2 were to blend the character in with the wider universe. That said, it would be somewhat of a shame to see the show lose what made it so unique. As a result, keeping Simon Williams isolated from the MCU and the Avengers could be a smart move, if Wonder Man season 2 were to happen.
