Everyone knows Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is coming. It's really just a question of when. In the past few months, we've gotten considerable updates on it, including that the main story is mostly finished and that Queen's Blood will be returning. Now, it looks like a release window is forming.
This is mostly thanks to resurfaced leaks regarding FF7 Rebirth, which insider NatetheHate confirmed is still set to arrive on Xbox in 2026. In the Reddit thread sharing this, one user posited that getting FF7 Remake and Rebirth on multiple consoles in a single calendar had an ulterior motive - to prepare the world for FF7 Remake Part 3's arrival.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Is Set For Xbox This Year
According to a leaker, who was later revealed to be NatetheHate, FF7 Rebirth is still set to come to Xbox in 2026. Presumably, this means the game will also arrive on Switch 2. Since FF7 Remake just came out on both consoles earlier in January, this would mean both games release in the same calendar year.
That's not necessarily surprising, since both games are a few years old at this point, but fans are pretty united in believing it's a sure sign of things to come. Specifically, it means Square Enix is preparing for the release of FF7 Remake Part 3 next year: "2 games in one calendar year?" reads the top comment on Reddit. "It's almost as if they had something locked in for next year that necessitated both Part 1 and Part 2 to be out before then."
This Sets The Stage For Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3
It actually makes a lot of sense that both of these games are releasing ahead of FF7 Remake Part 3. After all, it gives a much wider audience access to the RPGs before the finale arrives. If Part 3 is a multi-platform release at launch rather than just a PlayStation exclusive, then it makes even more sense.
Right now, there's no official word on whether FF7 Remake Part 3 is arriving in 2027, but that release window feels increasingly likely. It was just shy of four years between the first and second entries, with Remake arriving in April 2020 and Rebirth dropping in February 2024. If Part 3 is arriving in 2027, especially late in the year like December, then it'd be the exact same amount of time between entries.
The timing here is important, and Square Enix allegedly pushing out FF7 Rebirth in 2026 aligns with the idea that Final Fantasy Remake Part 3 will release in 2027. Hopefully, we'll know more soon.
