Ryan O'Rourke is a Senior News Writer at Collider with a specific interest in all things adult animation, video game adaptations, and the work of Mike Flanagan. He is also an experienced baseball writer with over six years of articles between multiple outlets, most notably FanSided's CubbiesCrib. Whether it's taking in a baseball game, a new season of Futurama or Castlevania: Nocturne, or playing the latest From Software title, he is always finding ways to show his fandom. When it comes to gaming and anything that takes inspiration from it, he is deeply opinionated on what's going on. Outside of entertainment, he's a graduate of Eureka College with a Bachelor's in Communication where he honed his craft as a writer. Between The IV Leader at Illinois Valley Community College and The Pegasus at Eureka, he spent the majority of his college career publishing articles on everything from politics to campus happenings and, of course, entertainment for the student body. Those principles he learned covering the 2020 election, Palestine, and so much more are brought here to Collider, where he has gleefully written on everything from the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes to Nathan Lane baby-birding sewer boys.
Park City, Utah's final iteration of the Sundance Film Festival is officially underway, yet attendees will have to wait until this weekend to enter Bedford Park. Stephanie Ahn's feature directorial debut romantic drama will make its world premiere at the U.S.'s largest indie film festival tomorrow, January 24, bringing with it a story of two lost souls struggling to get by and haunted by their pasts who find understanding and love within each other. Before it screens in front of attendees, Collider has an exclusive first look at its unexpected pair, played by Okja alum Moon Choi alongside Son Suk-ku. They're both very different people with very separate lives, until circumstances bring them together and ignite a newfound passion.
Bedford Park primarily centers on Audrey (Choi), a Korean-American woman divided between her loyalty to her family and the life and identity she's built as she's grown up in New Jersey. She's still haunted by an abusive childhood, having endured plenty of hardships as the offspring of immigrant parents and experiencing hurt that has never fully healed. When her mother gets into a car accident, Audrey returns to her family home, where she meets the man responsible — a former wrestler named Eli (Suk-ku). Knowing the pain and isolation of being a child of immigrants himself and weighing his own past, he immediately forms a connection with her and, together, they go on a journey of love and healing, navigating the cultural pressures they've faced all their lives and how to care for themselves and their loved ones.
Both shots offer a window into the lives of Audrey and Eli, with the first showing the former as she's lying in bed with her headphones on, while the second finds Eli looking emotionally exhausted as he sits on the floor in his apartment while on the phone. Choi and Suk-ku will bring the emotional heart and soul to Bedford Park, having earned plenty of acclaim with their past projects. In addition to Bong Joon-ho's Okja, Choi was lauded by critics for her roles in the 2017 Korean biographical drama Anarchist from Colony and the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival standout Our Body. Suk-ku, meanwhile, is best known of late for sharing the screen with Marvel's Eternals and Train to Busan star Ma Dong-seok in the action crime drama The Roundup, which was credited with reviving the Korean box office with a haul worth over $100 million. They're joined in the film by Won Mi Kyung, Kim Eung Soo, and Yellowstone regular Jefferson White.
'Bedford Park' Hails From a 'Sleepless in Seattle' Producer
While Bedford Park will be Ahn's first feature writing and directing effort, she did have some veteran production talent behind her. Gary Foster, who previously backed the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan feel-good romantic comedy Sleepless in Seattle, as well as Dan Harmon's beloved comedy series Community, served as a producer alongside his Krasnoff/Foster Productions partner, Russ Krasnoff. Also attached are Chris S. Lee of B&C Content banner and Nina Yang Bongiovi. As Forest Whitaker's partner at Significant Productions, Bongiovi has a killer track record with first-time filmmakers at Sundance, including backing the debuts of two 2026 Oscar nominees — Fruitvale Station from Sinners mastermind Ryan Coogler and Songs My Brother Taught Me from Hamnet helmer Chloé Zhao. There's hope that Ahn can follow in their footsteps and become a standout at the festival.
Bedford Park will world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on January 24 at the Library Center Theatre in Park City. Check out our exclusive images in the gallery above.
