Fizz-e-Motion has come on board as the sales agent for science-fiction thriller “Psychonaut,” starring Fiona Dourif (“Chucky,” “The Pitt”). The company will start promoting the film at the European Film Market in Berlin next month.

The U.S. release will be handled by Studio Dom.

Thijs Meuwese’s film centers on Max, a young woman, who – enabled by a mysterious futuristic machine – dives inside the mind of her dying girlfriend, trying to find the essential memory that could save her life, all the while being hunted by a man they presumed to be dead.

Meuwese said, “‘Psychonaut’ is a trippy microbudget drama with elements of science fiction and horror in the same vein as movies like ‘Pi,’ ‘Following,’ ‘Primer’ and ‘The Lighthouse.’

“Designed from the ground up to blur the boundaries between reality, dream and memory, ‘Psychonaut’ is a gritty dive into human subconsciousness and the formative moments of our lives.”

The film also stars Julia Batelaan, Yasmin Blake and Lloydd Hamwijk. The producers are David Grover, Monne Tuinhout and Thijs Meuwese.

The film won Macabro Film Festival in Mexico, and played in official selection at Fantaspoa in Brazil. It was at Reeling in Chicago in official selection, and Brooklyn Horror Film Festival in New York in official selection.

Meuwese’s 2017 post-apocalyptic action feature “Molly” was nominated for the Black Tulip Award at Imagine Film Festival. His 2020 sci-fi action feature “Kill Mode” was nominated for the Méliès D’Argent Award by the International Festivals Federation, and won best film pitch at Imagine Film Festival.
