Ewan is Deputy Editor for ScreenRant's gaming section. He still quite hasn’t gotten out of his mid 00’s emo phase, and knows more about The Legend of Zelda and Doctor Who than is probably healthy.

Ewan oversees the content operation of ScreenRant's gaming output, working with a talented team of writers and editors to cover everything from the latest GTA 6 news to the indie games you need on your radar.

Former Editor of GAMINGbible, Ewan also has words at Kotaku, Den of Geek, NME, and UNILAD. He's appeared on various podcasts, including VGC's and BBC's Let's Talk About Tech.

I think we can all agree Xbox Game Pass is shaping up to have a pretty stacked 2026. Hit games like Atomfall and Star Wars Outlaws have already joined the online subscription service, High On Life 2 lands next month, and we'll be seeing games like Fable and Forza Horizon 6 land day one later in the year.

If you're wanting to see what all the fuss is about, the good news is that you can currently get your hands on Xbox Game Pass for free for a very limited time. That means you can join subscribers everywhere in spending 90% of your time on Xbox trying to choose what to play, and 10% actually playing something. It's a perfect system.

You don't have forever

 2025 Edition.

As of right now, there's a limited-time promotion from digital comics company WEBTOON that'll net you one month of free Xbox Game Pass. That may not sound like a lot, but there are so many great smaller games available on Game Pass that you could blast through a whole lot of gaming fun in the space of that month.

To claim this promotional offer for yourself, all you have to do is create an account on WEBTOON and go and read the brand-new Sea of Thieves comic, The Last Bite. All five "episodes" are available right now, and you'll have to get through all of them to claim your Game Pass. Not too taxing, right?

Here's the official synopsis for Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite:

"A new crew of rogues have sailed to the pirate paradise known as the Sea of Thieves, but things aren’t right aboard ship. With their captain lost and tempers fraying, one question’s still on everyone’s minds - which of them broke their oath and stole the Last Bite? There’s adventures to be had and treasures to be taken from these untamed shores, but as their bond of trust dissolves, the crew’s maiden voyage may prove to be their final journey…"

While you're over in the WEBTOON neighborhood, you might also wanna check out Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple, which is a surprisingly awesome sequel to Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. Although to be clear, you won't get any freebies in exchange for reading that one.

2026 Is A Big Year For Xbox

You know this, of course

As I'm sure you already know, 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for Xbox. It's the 25th anniversary of the original console, and Xbox is celebrating with a remake of the OG Halo, a brand-new Fable, and Forza Horizon 6. I'd wager that's just the tip of the iceberg, too, with plenty more surprises to come later on in the year.

So, if you don't have Xbox Game Pass, it might be time to think about getting a tactical subscription. Because by all accounts, 2026 is Xbox's year.
