Guy Fieri Shares Health Update After Tearing His Quad Muscle in Half
Guy Fieri is adding a little flavor to his signature look.
The Food Network star celebrated his 58th birthday with a new style, trading in his spiky platinum hair and grungy wardrobe for a more polished look—but with a twist, that is.
“New Year. New Guy. New Look,” Guy wrote on his Jan. 23 Instagram video, which sees an AI version of him wearing a brown combover, a button down top and khaki pants. “After so many years of celebrating my birthday as Guy, I figured this year, I’d celebrate it as just a guy. Happy birthday to me.”
To further prove he’s committed to his digital makeover, the Guy’s Grocery Games host also made his new avatar his profile picture on Instagram. However, not everyone is a fan of the chef’s transformation, including his son Hunter.
In the comments section, the 29-year-old—whom Guy shares with wife Lori Fieri—jokingly wrote, “Dad…when did you start selling insurance?”
Hunter continued the bit in his Instagram Stories, reposting the video with several laughing emojis.
“Happy Birthday to the Mayor!” he wrote. “Love you dad/just a Guy.”
Guy’s makeover comes days after he offered a promising update on his health. Indeed, the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives host—also dad to 20-year-old son Ryder—has been on the mend since he got emergency surgery to repair his torn quadricep muscle in November.
“I’m doing better,” he told People on Jan. 14. “It was definitely a trying holiday, but you know what, you get some real appreciation for having the ability to just get up and walk around and do everything you used to. I’m a big CrossFit and hiking guy, so eight weeks of no hiking has driven me kind of crazy. But I’m looking forward to it, trying to take it easy.”
But this injury, which left him in a wheelchair for over a month, didn’t just affect him. Since the accident happened while he was filming his new series Flavor Town Food Fight, he had to briefly restructure how his guests would appear on set.
“We’ve got everybody in town, all the chefs there, 125 people on set and everybody’s ready to go, and I’m in surgery,” he explained to Fox News Digital in November. “So, we figured out how to pivot through it and to have some creative filming techniques. But it’s been a run, and now I’m up here at the ranch, where it’s always about hiking and outdoors, and you know, beautiful.”
