The Incredible Hulk just showcased his most staggering feat of healing and invincibility of all time, tanking the most jaw-dropping hit of his 64-year career.
Hulk Tanks a Hit "With the Power of a Billion Nuclear Weapons"
Hulk Survived "Trillions of Tons of Space Rock Hitting Him Faster Than the Speed of Sound"
In this week's Hulk Smash Everything #2 - from Ryan North, Vincenzo Carratù, Federico Blee and Joe Caramagna - the Leader teleports/time travels Hulk into the path of the Chicxulub asteroid - the gigantic chunk of space rock that drove the dinosaurs to extinction. Hulk is hit by the asteroid that caused an extinction event and lives to walk away.
Hulk isn't just in the blast zone - he's at the exact epicenter of the blast. As the story notes, trillions of tons of rock hit him at the speed of sound, with the power of countless nuclear blasts. Despite that, Hulk is left standing - "his skin cooks, falls off in chunks and regenerates. Every nerve in his body is screaming in complete agony."
Hulk's durability and healing vary depending on the persona he's manifesting, but as the savage Hulk he's immensely powerful, and only gets mightier the angrier he becomes. While the Leader is visiting staggering trauma on his nemesis, he's also pushing Hulk's powers to new heights in the process.
Every horrific injury Hulk survives makes him more able to tank the next, but even taking an asteroid to the face may not be enough for Hulk to survive next issue's trauma - being hurled into a literal black hole.
2025 Has Removed All Hulk's Limits
Hulk Smash Everything promised to confront Hulk with his biggest challenges of all time, however it's not the only title opening up new frontiers for the character. Over in Infernal Hulk, the new Hulk is about to take on the One Above All, the literal supreme being of the Marvel Universe. While the Infernal Hulk isn't Bruce Banner but a demon who stole his Hulk powers, it's still the most impressive foe that any Hulk has ever tackled.
For decades, Hulk fans have boasted that there's nothing he can't do when he gets angry enough. Now, Marvel is serving up undeniable evidence to support this claim, as Hulk's healing and durability achieve the utterly impossible - tanking the Chicxulub impactor to the face.
Hulk Smash Everything #2 is available now from Marvel Comics.
