Adam Blevins began working in the entertainment industry in 2022 as a Staff Writer for Agents of Fandom, where he progressed to Senior Editor and interviewed talent from Marvel Studios, House of the Dragon, and Planet of the Apes. He joined Collider as a News Author in April 2024, was promoted to a Senior position in December 2024, and has written over 3,000 articles for the site, including exclusives relating to Avengers: Doomsday, The Penguin, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, and more. He primarily writes about the latest box office numbers and the hottest movies and TV shows on streaming, while also covering superhero and sci-fi news. He has completed a set visit for The Chosen and even has several months of experience writing Gaming Features at ScreenRant. You can find him on X, LinkedIn, and Muckrack.

Jason Statham’s new action movie will land in theaters in just over a week, but fans don’t have to wait that long to get a first look at the film. Collider is thrilled to partner with Black Bear to exclusively preview a new sneak peek at Shelter, Statham’s new rescue thriller co-starring Harriet Walter (Silo) and Bill Nighy (Lazarus). The film follows a man living remotely on a Scottish island who rescues a girl from the sea, but this sets off a chain of events that lead to an attack on his home. Shelter premieres exclusively in theaters on January 30.

In the new sneak peek at Shelter, which can be found below, Mason (Statham) escorts Jesse (Bodhi Rahi Breathnach) through a nightclub while fending off attackers. The clip is eerily reminiscent of the fight scenes in the John Wick movies, where Keanu Reeves does battle against the backdrop of a packed club late at night. Statham often relies more on his hand-to-hand combat in movies than he does on weapons, but it appears his character in Shelter will be just as familiar with guns as he is with his fists. The film also stars Naomi Ackie (Mickey 17).

Ward Perry wrote the script for Shelter, and Ric Roman Waugh directed the film. Waugh is also the director of Greenland 2: Migration, Gerard Butler’s new sci-fi sequel that arrived in theaters just a few weeks ago. Waugh also directed the first Greenland movie, so he’s developing quite the reputation for working with some of the world’s biggest action stars. Waugh also worked with Butler a few years ago on Kandahar, a spy thriller that stepped into the streaming spotlight on HBO Max last year.

Jason Statham Has Two More Movies Coming This Year

After Shelter, Jason Statham will return to theaters this August with Mutiny, another action thriller that will likely begin promotion in the next month or two. The film comes from Jean-François Richet, who directed another Gerard Butler action movie, Plane. It will be released on August 21. Statham will also reprise his role as Adam Clay in a sequel to The Beekeeper, and while the film has not been given a spot on the release calendar, it has been confirmed to premiere before the end of the year. Timo Tjahjanto is directing The Beekeeper 2.

Check out the new sneak peek at Shelter above and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the film.
