John Mulaney Reveals He Helps Financially Support Olivia Munn's 'Large Family'

John Mulaney has a lot on his plate — but he doesn't mind!

The comedian and father of two appeared on Monday's episode of Mike Birbiglia's Working It Out podcast, where he revealed that he financially supports several members of wife, Olivia Munn's, "large" family.

So Olivia has a large — she's Vietnamese, and she has a large Vietnamese family in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, of which I am one of the significant financial contributors. For the first 39 years of my life, I supported zero Vietnamese people — probably none — and now I have 10 on the books.

And while it may seem like quite an undertaking, Mulaney said he enjoys helping take care of Munn's family — the bulk of whom, on her maternal side, emigrated from Vietnam to the United States — especially since it's something he hasn't had to do for his own.

With parents of some success, you can’t really do anything for them. And it brings me great joy to help out, to help and do fun things for Olivia's family.

As for how it's impacted his dynamic with his in-laws, Mulaney shared that Munn's relatives are pretty direct when it comes to talking about money, and are well-aware of his finances.

Yeah, I tell them, they love it. They couldn't like it more.

While the funny man joked that it must be "refreshing" for Munn's big brood to be in a "white family [and] never talk about money," the Munn's have been interwoven into the fabric of the couple's lives for some time now, revealing in a December 2024 appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, that Munn's mom, Kim, had even moved in with the couple.

She's been living with us in California. I'm not sure how long that’s going to last and — or why it's happening, really.

The move has only served to strengthen John Mulaney's strong bond with his mother-in-law, with the Your Friends & Neighbors actress calling the pair "besties," sharing in an April 2025 appearance on Today With Jenna and Friends that Mulaney and her mom hang out "all of the time."

John has a list — an actual notepad — of Korean dramas and movies to watch with her, and he checks them off. They love it.

Munn and Mulaney tied the knot in a Fourth of July ceremony in 2024, after welcoming son, Malcolm, 4, in November 2021, and later daughter Méi, 1, in September 2024. Mulaney was previously married to Anna Marie Tendler, while Munn, meanwhile, has been linked to Byran Greenberg, Chris Pine, and NFL quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
