EXCLUSIVE: Sadie Stanley (Karate Kids: Legends, Cruel Summer) has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming Netflix drama series Poser. She joins the previously announced Daisy Jelley and Annie Murphy.
From Lauren Iungerich, Poser explores toxic female friendship through the lens of a sexy, emotional thriller. It centers around two estranged, former best friends. When one of them is given a chance to live the life she’s long coveted, and maybe get answers as to why they fell out years ago, she finds herself in a psychological game of revenge, betrayal, and heartbreak—ultimately altering their lives, and those around them, forever.
Stanley will play the character of Emmy Hunter, an unassuming beauty who dreams of reaching “it girl” status, on the 8-episode drama, sources close to production tell Deadline.
Iungerich will serve as the writer and showrunner of Poser, a project that falls under her overall deal at Netflix. She and Jamie Dooner executive produce through her Crazy Cat Lady Entertainment production banner.
Stanley made her acting debut as the popular Disney Channel character Kim Possible in the eponymous TV movie for the network released in 2019. She followed that with a recurring role in ABC’s The Goldbergs, and a leading role in 2023 on Freeform’s Cruel Summer. Additional TV credits include Netflix’s Dead to Me, Hulu’s Pen15, and, most recently, Criminal Minds on CBS.
On the big screen, she recently played Mia Lipani in Sony’s Karate Kid: Legends, working alongside Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan. Her character is the daughter of former boxing champ Victor Lipani, played by Joshua Jackson. Her additional film credits include The Sleepover (2020), Let Us In (2021), and Somewhere in Queens (2022). She will next be seen in Pretty Babies opposite Ashley Benson, Emily Alyn Lind, and Madelaine Petsch. Stanley is represented by Thruline Entertainment, Gersh, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, and Smelkinson.
