EXCLUSIVE: Kate Beckinsale has signed on to star in The Savior, an action-thriller from director Russell Mulcahy (1986’s Highlander, Resident Evil: Extinction).

Pic follows a mother, Jordyn Parker (Beckinsale) struggling with addiction who is forced to resurrect a violent past to rescue her kidnapped daughter from ruthless human traffickers.

The gritty thriller is billed as being in the spirit of Man on Fire, Collateral and Sicario, and
a brooding atmosphere reminiscent of Prisoners and Se7en. Marc Furmie (Terminus, Viper, The Weight of Darkness) and Jason Mavraidis (Viper) wrote the story based on a story by Corey Large.

Large is producing under his 308 Ent banner, with Jordan Nott and Furmie serving as executive producers. Cameras are expected to roll in late February. Tim Marlowe is also executive producing. Lorcan Kavanagh is financing with Noora selling. pink308 is also financing.

Said Large, “The Savior was based on the conceit that there is nothing a parent wouldn’t do to save their child – even if it means facing the darkest demons they have spent years burying. Russell has brought us some of the most iconic action movies and thrillers of the past 40 years and we’re thrilled to have his vision behind this gritty, no holds barred screenplay.”

Beckinsale most recently headlined the action-thriller Canary Black and has also appeared in projects including Charlie Day’s Fool’s Paradise and the drama Prisoner’s Daughter. After breaking out in 1995’s Cold Comfort Farm she went on to star in Screen Gems’ Underworld franchise. Recently, she starred in the movies The Patient and Wildcat. She is repped by Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo.

Mulcahy is repped by Magnet Management, Independent Artist Group and Paul Hastings.

308 Ent is also currently in production on Unmerciful Good Fortune — a supernatural
horror thriller starring and produced by Rosario Dawson, directed by Tirsa Hackshaw, with Antonio Banderas, Scott Eastwood and Susan Sarandon also set to star — as well as the thriller Raven, which stars Anthony Mackie, Ben Foster, Pablo Schreiber, Ron Livingston and Hassie Harrison directed Tom Sierchio (The Girl Who Invented Kissing, Tulsa King).
