Authorities arrested a librarian from West Virginia over the weekend for allegedly trying to recruit people on social media to assassinate President Trump.

According to a report by local outlet WOWK, officers arrested 39-year-old Morgan L. Morrow on Monday. She was charged with one count of 'threats of terroristic acts.' The outlet cites a criminal complaint filed in Jackson County Magistrates Court. Per the report, deputies learned of an alleged threat of violence "directed toward an unknown individual, which was believed to be a public official," on January 25.

Authorities discovered that the threat originated from Morrow's personal TikTok account. WOWK reveals that she is a librarian at the Jackson County Public Library. The report does not show the entire message. However, it allegedly includes the sentence, "Surely a sn!per with a terminal illness can't be a big ask out of 343 million."

The complaint allegedly says that Morrow admitted to the police in an interview that her post was "intended as a threat directed toward President Donald J. Trump." Morrow reportedly gave her "personal reasons for wishing harm upon the President," although they have not been disclosed.

Deputies allegedly said the librarian claimed she had no intention of carrying out the threat personally. Similar statements are "designed to encourage, inspire or entice others to carry out the threatened act, regardless of whether the speaker publicly intends to personally do so."

Sheriff Ross Mellinger posted about the arrest on Facebook, confirming the charge of terroristic threat. The release says authorities arrested Morrow "following a social media recruitment of individuals to pursue and assassinate President Trump."

This is not meant to be a political - oriented statement. This is an active criminal investigation with documented and troubling concerns.

Per WOWK, Mellinger also made clear in his statement that acts such as these have consequences.

When you saddle up on the horse of stupidity, you have to be prepared for the ride that follows. We're just trying to do our part in making sure that it's not acted upon, and there's no one that's following her footsteps to try to carry out the plan.

Mellinger later clarified that it's OK to be critical of the government.

When you start promoting the violence, and you're promoting a plan to carry out the violence and recruiting other people to carry out the plan for you, that's clearly crossing the line.

The Jackson County Library addressed the incident in a Facebook statement. They said the matter was being addressed internally, and views expressed in an individual capacity do not represent the organization's position.
