Filming for the live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 has officially taken flight.
The first live-action remake was released in 2025, featuring Mason Thames as Hiccup, Nic Parker as Astrid, Gerard Butler as Stoick, and Nick Frost as Gobber. The live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 was confirmed before its predecessor released in theaters and went on to gross $636.6 million worldwide and earn a "Verified Hot" 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. June 11, 2027 is the release date for the sequel.
Director Dean DeBlois has now shared a behind-the-scenes image of himself smiling on day one of principal photography for How to Train Your Dragon 2. He also revealed a new look at the movie's logo, which can be seen for the first time in red. The caption reads: "Back in the saddle! Day 1 of principal photography on HTTYD2!
