Fans of a particular Martin Scorsese movie will soon have the chance to learn more about the true story that inspired the $407 million hit.

The Wolf of Wall Street stars Leonardo DiCaprio as crooked stockbroker Jordan Belfort, depicting his rise and fall, as well as his extreme hedonistic lifestyle. After its release in 2013, The Wolf of Wall Street was nominated for five Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor (DiCaprio), and Best Supporting Actor (Jonah Hill). Now, Paramount+ will release a docuseries called The Real Wolf of Wall Street.

With Jesse Sweet of Maxine Productions serving as showrunner, The Real Wolf of Wall Street will show the true story that is "even darker and more debauched than previously known" of Belfort and his fellow brokers at Stratton Oakmont, per Variety. Maxine Productions and See It Now Studios are producing the three-part documentary for Paramount+.

The Real Wolf of Wall Street will reportedly feature exclusive interviews from insiders who have never spoken about their experiences with Belfort before, new footage, and 15,000 previously unreleased government documents. Belfort famously ran a "pump and dump" scheme defrauding investors, with stockbrokers artificially inflating stock prices and selling their shares at a huge profit.

Scorsese adapted his movie from Belfort's 2007 memoir; neither Scorsese nor the real Belfort is reported to be involved with the new docuseries project. After the fall of Stratton Oakmont in 1999, Belfort pled guilty and served 22 months in federal prison, after which he became an FBI informant. Belfort does have a cameo in The Wolf of Wall Street and was a consultant on the film.

The Wolf of Wall Street is counted among Scorsese's best movies, and the legendary filmmaker's career includes several such crime epics set during different periods in American history. The Wolf of Wall Street's cast also features an early-career Margot Robbie, as well as Matthew McConaughey, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jon Bernthal, and Jon Favreau. It currently has a 79% Tomatometer against an 83% Popcornmeter.

The Real Wolf of Wall Street is in production and will release sometime in 2026; The Wolf of Wall Street is available to stream via Paramount+.
