A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."
An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen...and we finally know when. The new horror miniseries is headed to your home this spring, and Netflix has just given us our first look at it. The series, which is produced by Stranger Things impresarios Matt and Ross Duffer, will premiere on the streamer on March 26.
The new images give us our first look at soon-to-be newlyweds Rachel (Camila Morrone, Daisy Jones and the Six) and Nicky (Adam DiMarco, Overcompensating) as they trek to visit his wealthy family on the eve of their nuptials. That includes his mother, Victoria Cunningham (Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight), as well as a whole passel of creepy would-be in-laws, including Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs), Jeff Wilbusch (The Calling), Karla Crome (Carnival Row), Gus Birney (Shining Vale), and Sawyer Fraser (The Good Doctor). Even as the wedding nears, it's not a joyful occasion; a sense of dread hangs over the proceedings, but the show's creatives are staying mum as to what, exactly, the titular "something bad" is. Are the Cunninghams Rosemary's Baby-style Satanists? Are there homicidal Ready or Not shenanigans afoot? Or is it all in Rachel's head? You'll have to tune in to find out.
What Other Projects Are the Duffer Brothers Working on for Netflix?
Stranger Things is over and done with (sorry, "conformity gate" true believers), and the Duffers have signed a new four-year mega-deal with Paramount, but the duo who brought Netflix's original programming to previously unheard-of heights aren't done with the streamer yet. For starters, they aren't exactly done with Stranger Things. Stranger Things: Tales From '85 is a new animated series set between the second and third seasons of the series; the show's characters (but not their actors) will return, with the addition of new characters played by Odessa A'zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips. They're also producing The Boroughs, a science fiction series set in a retirement community; it will star Bill Pullman, Geena Davis, Clarke Peters, Alfre Woodard, and Alfred Molina.
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen will be showrun and written by Haley Z. Boston, who has previously written for Brand New Cherry Flavor, Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, and Hunters. It will be directed by Axelle Carolyn (The Haunting of Bly Manor) and Lisa Brühlmann (Servant).
All eight episodes of Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen will premiere on Netflix on March 26. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
