EXCLUSIVE: Patricia Clarkson is set to join Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming feature What Happens at Night. Hailing from Apple Studios, and made in partnership with Studiocanal, the dream-like story follows a married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby.

Scorsese will direct and produce for Sikelia Productions. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Peter Cameron, the script is written by Patrick Marber.  The film marks the latest collaboration for Scorsese, DiCaprio and Apple Original Films following the history-making and 10-time Academy Award nominated feature Killers of the Flower Moon. Lawrence has collaborated with Apple Original Films on projects including Causeway and Bread & Roses, along with the upcoming murder mystery feature The Wives in which she is set to star and produce.

Clarkson stars in biopic Lilly in the title role of Fair Pay activist Lilly Ledbetter, which was released in theaters May 2025, and currently streaming on Netflix. Other recent films include the artistic masterpiece and timely drama Monica from Andrea Pallaoro, and Universal’s She Said about the New York Times reporters who helped launch the #MeToo movement, in the role of Pulitzer-prize winning editor Rebecca Corbett.

Clarkson will next guest star in the second season of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon in the role of Quinn’s (Minka Kelly) mother Claire O’Grady. In 2024 Clarkson starred on stage in the West End Wyndham’s Theatre’s production of Long Day’s Journey Into Night opposite Brian Cox, for which she received universal praise.

She is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content.
