Acclaimed writer and producer Steven Knight has an exciting 2026 ahead, headlined by the long-awaited theatrical and streaming debut of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Alongside a recent, praised second season of his Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty-led series A Thousand Blows, and a suspected 2026 release for SAS: Rogue Heroes Season 3, Knight's name is sure to be one repeated throughout this year. Ahead of the return to Peaky Blinders, one of Knight's best projects, and his first with Tom Hardy, is finding a new streaming home.
As of February 1, 2026, you'll be able to stream the acclaimed 2014 drama Locke on Plex. Made for a small budget of just $2 million, Locke is one of only three movies directed by Knight, alongside 2019's Serenity and his feature directorial debut, Hummingbird. Although boasting a star-studded cast including Olivia Colman, Bill Milner, Andrew Scott, Ben Daniels, Ruth Wilson, and even Hardy's Spider-Verse neighbor Tom Holland, Locke is very much Hardy's movie, with the film taking place entirely inside his character's car, with Hardy the only actor to appear on-screen. Praised by critics and earning a 91% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, there are few films quite like Locke. The critics' consensus on the review site reads, "A one-man show set in a single confined location, Locke demands a powerful performance — and gets it from a never-more-compelling Tom Hardy." A logline for the movie reads:
"A man's (Tom Hardy) life unravels after he leaves a construction site at a critical time and drives to London to be present for the birth of a child conceived during a one-night stand."
Another Knight and Hardy Project Might Return
Having worked together on numerous projects, Hardy and Knight don't look set to slow down anytime soon. In fact, in a recent interview, Knight gave a promising update about a potential return to the pair's underrated 2017 mystery series, Taboo. "Well, Tom and I have talked about it, and I think we know what we would do." Knight promisingly revealed, adding, "It’s just finding the space. But I'd love to, I get asked about it – especially in the States, actually – I get asked about it a lot." Hardy himself has also previously declared interest in a return to the series, saying, "When I have the space properly to commit, I'd revisit it properly. So it's never been something that we didn't want to do. It's a question of when, and doing it properly."
Locke will stream on Plex this February 1. Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming stories.
