Rita Ora had said it was a 'real eye opener' becoming a step mum to husband Taika Waititi's kids. 

The singer, 35, and director and actor Taika tied the knot in 2022 and Rita became a stepmother to his daughters Te Kāinga o te Hinekāhu, 13, and Matewa Kiritapu, nine. 

In a rare comment on her family life, Rita opened up about how being a step mum changed her perspective on the world.

Speaking to The Sun, Rita said she finds the role 'easy', but confessed it helped here understand how much more there is to life. 

She said: 'It's really easy. We wake up, we work out together with the kids running on the treadmills, it's a family affair.

'I have to say it's been a real eye-opener to understand that sometimes there's more to life than what you care about in that moment. 

'I've realised there's so much more, so [becoming a stepmum] did give me that.'

Film director Taika, 50, shares his two children with his ex-wife Chelsea Winstanley, also 50, who he split from in 2018 with after seven years of marriage.

Last year Rita shared rare insight into her marriage to Taika Waititi while flaunting her jaw-dropping figure in a stunning shoot for Hunger magazine.

Rita credited their strong friendship as the key component to their romantic relationship.

Telling the publication: 'Taika and I are basically just best friends and we wanted to just live in that element for ever, I guess.' 

The couple wed in a secret ceremony in August 2022, after Rita bucked tradition and popped the question.

Their low-key Los Angeles ceremony wasn't confirmed by the couple until a year later, which Rita told Grazia they 'winged with zero planning'.

After years of not being in the right relationship during her 'messy twenties', Rita said that when she got together with Taika it felt 'right and safe'.

The pair started dating in March 2021, before going public with their romance that August. 

Prior to their romantic relationship, Rita and Taika were close friends for five years. 

Before Taika, Rita romanced a string of big names, starting back in her pre-fame years.

Before either of them shot to super stardom Rita dated Bruno Mars at the age of 18, later saying: 'It was love at first sight.'

'We met in 2009. I was 18 and starting out at Roc Nation. Bruno was unknown back then too. 

'He was a struggling songwriter hired to write songs for me. I thought: "Wow, that's just the world's greatest guy!"'

After Bruno, the singer dated reality star Rob Kardashian for two months from October 2012 before ending their brief romance due to her 'hectic work schedule' and their incompatible lifestyles.

She then had high-profile relationships with the likes of DJ Calvin Harris, musician Andrew Watt and designer Tommy Hilfiger's son Ricky.

Rita has also enjoyed flings with rapper A$AP Rocky, actor Andrew Garfield and rocker Travis Barker.
