Sam Raimi has a new best movie, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Raimi is the director of the Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire and, most recently, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Previously, Raimi's highest-rated movie on the review aggregator site was Spider-Man 2, with a critical approval rating of 93%, closely followed by Drag Me to Hell (92%) and A Simple Plan (91%). But now, the director has revealed Send Help.
A psychological horror-thriller about an employee and boss with a toxic dynamic who are stranded on an island together, Send Help debuted with a stellar Rotten Tomatoes score that was initially tied with Spider-Man 2. But as of January 28, a few more reviews have come in, and Send Help is at 94% from 85 reviews, making it the highest-rated movie of Raimi's directorial career.
Send Help stars Rachel McAdams (who also stars in Doctor Strange) as Linda, a mousy employee who turns the tables on her awful boss, Bradley (Dylan O'Brien), when they are the only survivors of a plane crash, and he is suddenly dependent on her for survival. In reviews for Send Help, critics praise the wild horror and gore as well as the two leads' dynamic.
In some newer examples, The Seattle Times' Moira MacDonald says that Send Help "is a fascinating study of what happens when a power dynamic suddenly shifts," while Sydney Morning Herald's Sandra Hall states that "[Sam Raimi] treats us a crafty mix of blood, gore and gallows humour featuring two actors inviting us to share in the great time they're having."
Send Help will be in theaters on January 30, 2026.
