Silo season will end its run after two more seasons, but its upcoming season 3 will seemingly determine its fate in more ways than one.

Although Apple TV has a vast number of sci-fi TV offerings, Silo remains one of its most acclaimed and popular shows. It has been a while since Silo season 2 ended its run. That, too, with several intriguing questions about Juliette's future, the secrets of Silo 18, and the origins of the titular silos. Owing to this, it is hard not to be hyped about Silo season 3, which is expected to release in 2026.

However, Silo season 3 must tread carefully because, after season 2, it could potentially make or break the Apple TV sci-fi show.

Silo Season 3 Cannot Afford To Repeat Season 2’s Biggest Storytelling Mistake

Silo season 1 was a massive hit on Apple TV because it managed to keep viewers at the edge of their seats throughout its runtime. From its opening moments itself, it defied expectations by killing off two characters, Allison and Holston, who came off as its protagonists. The more it progressed, the more one could not help but immerse themselves in the anxieties and uncertainty felt by its characters.

In its final moments, Silo season 1 also delivered an epic conclusion that perfectly paved the way for season 2. Silo season 2 also had its merits and did an incredible job of bringing many concepts from the original Hugh Howey books to the screen.

However, it cannot be denied that Silo season 2 had some clear pacing issues from the very beginning.

Although Silo season 2 managed to earn critical acclaim and even performed well on Apple TV, it received a lot of hate for initially not progressing Juliette's story.

In many episodes, Juliette's arc was marred by unnecessary fillers, which ultimately weighed the show down. Silo season 3 cannot afford to tread the same path and must avoid season 2's mistakes. Season 2's pitfalls were forgiven because it made up for them in its final arc. Season 3, however, will be judged more harshly due to higher expectations.

Also, since Silo is set to end its run with season 4, season 3 will have to be better than seasons 1 and 2 to be able to raise enough excitement for the final chapter.

Silo Season 3 Has 1 Major Advantage Over Season 2

Silo season 2's ending aligns with that of the first book in Hugh Howey's original trilogy. Owing to this, the show now has to cover the story beats from two remaining books in two seasons. This could be a blessing for the series as it does not allow it to leave any room for fillers. The Apple TV sci-fi show risks feeling rushed if it tries to condense too many major twists and character arcs into its limited runtime.

However, after season 2's slow developments, Silo could really benefit from a faster, more purpose-driven narrative momentum. This is exactly what it will seemingly have, given how it has to walk through everything from Juliette's return to power in Silo 18 to the history and origins of the silos.

Hopefully, Silo season 3 will make up for season 2's issues and turns out to be as good as it is expected to be.
