The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim endures as one of the most beloved open-world RPGs of all time, and that’s never been truer with fans consistently pushing the game to the limits of how great it can look via mods. Make no mistake: this is not The Elder Scrolls 6, but a visual upgrade for Skyrim.

Per Digital Dreams on YouTube, where fans can find countless visual overhauls and mod upgrade showcases, Skyrim has been oversaturated with a mouth-watering 3,561 mods, and the result is clear as day. It may not be The Elder Scrolls 6, which many fans are eagerly anticipating news from, though the love and attention players still give to Skyrim is proof that the fifth mainline Elder Scrolls game is all they’ll ever need.

Skyrim Shouldn’t Look This Good In 2026

The YouTube video itself can be run at a whopping 8K60FPS, with its highest setting being 4320p60 8K Ultra HD. It’s a beefy video, to be sure, and necessarily so, due to literally thousands of mods contributing to the highest resolution possible.

The video describes this showcase as “Skyrim Next Gen Modded graphics,” and that’s truly the case in this scenario. Each console generation strives to achieve greater visuals and performance than the last, but these mods, as excessive as they might be, propel Skyrim far beyond what even a PlayStation 6 or next-gen Xbox platform may be able to accomplish.

It would be phenomenal if The Elder Scrolls 6 could achieve an 8K resolution; however, mods will certainly play as big of a role in The Elder Scrolls 6’s shelf life as they have in Skyrim, and that alone is a thrilling concept.

It will be fascinating to see what feats PC modders will be able to perform with The Elder Scrolls 6 when it launches. Ironically, 8K videos of a 14-year-old Skyrim will probably look outdated.
