Warning: SPOILERS for Star Trek: Starfleet AcademyStar Trek: Starfleet Academy has the golden opportunity to deliver something Star Trek: Discovery failed to do. Certified Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy takes place in 3195, as a direct sequel set four years after the end of Star Trek: Discovery.

Starfleet Academy's idealistic cadets inherit "a broken world," but the rebuilding of the United Federation of Planets was sparked by the triumphs of Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the USS Discovery. Because Star Trek: Discovery ran, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy can now fly.

Starfleet and Federation history is also pivotal to Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Starfleet Academy's USS Athena is steeped in references to Starfleet's past legends. However, one crucial Star Trek 'character' has been missing from the 32nd century, and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy can finally fix this.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy can finally show the USS Enterprise of the 32nd century. The Starship Enterprise is presumably still in service as the flagship of the United Federation of Planets, but fans have wondered for years what the 32nd-century Enterprise looks like and what letter follows its "NCC-1701" designation.

The Starship Enterprise of the 32nd century would likely have programmable matter and detached nacelles like other 32nd century Starfleet ships.

Star Trek: Discovery seasons 1 and 2 introduced the 23rd-century Constitution Class USS Enterprise, which led to its spinoff, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Various versions of the Starship Enterprise were also referenced throughout Star Trek: Discovery's later seasons.

In Star Trek: Discovery season 4, episode 6, "Stormy Weather," Saru (Doug Jones) reported that the USS Enterprise had encountered a similar subspace rift as the USS Discovery, and "noted heated plasma." Saru was presumably speaking of the 32nd century's Starship Enterprise and not a previous iteration.

Still, Star Trek: Discovery never showed the 32nd century's USS Enterprise. Instead, the USS Voyager-J was sighted in the 32nd century. The descendant of Captain Kathryn Janeway's (Kate Mulgrew) starship was selected to test the Federation's new warp drive replacement, the Pathway Drive.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Can Show Many Versions Of The Starship Enterprise

Star Trek Discovery ISS Enterprise

Along with the 32nd century's USS Enterprise, there are potentially several other versions of the legendary starship that still exist, and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has the means to show them all. Star Trek: Picard season 3 introduced the Fleet Museum on Athan Prime, which could have survived The Burn into the 32nd century.

In Star Trek: Picard's early 25th century, the Fleet Museum on Athan Prime housed Captain Jonathan Archer's (Scott Bakula) NX-01 Enterprise refit, Captain James T. Kirk's (William Shatner) USS Enterprise-A, and Captain Jean-Luc Picard's (Patrick Stewart) USS Enterprise-D.

It's possible that by the 32nd century, later versions of the Starship Enterprise, like the USS Enterprise-F and Captain Seven of Nine's (Jeri Ryan) USS Enterprise-G could have joined their predecessors at the Fleet Museum, if the museum and the starships on it harbored survived The Burn.

Star Trek: Discovery season 5 also brought the 23rd century Mirror Universe's ISS Enterprise into Star Trek's Prime Timeline, and it was brought to Federation HQ. The ISS Enterprise may also have been sent to the Fleet Museum.

Fans online have already begun speculating on a possible Star Trek: Starfleet Academy storyline where the cadets hijack several versions of the Starship Enterprise from the Fleet Museum.

Whether or not that ever happens, it would be enough for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy to finally show the 32nd century USS Enterprise and reveal its Captain.
