Never one to accept defeat, everybody's favorite biscuit-loving soccer coach is set to return on Apple TV with the long-awaited fourth season of Ted Lasso. The critically acclaimed comedy drama, which emerged as Apple TV's first breakout hit, has cemented itself as something of a flagship title for the streamer. The show became a fan-favorite over the last half decade and seemingly wrapped up its run with a third season in 2023. However, co-creators Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein agreed to return in 2025. On Wednesday, Apple TV announced a release window for the upcoming fourth season, which will feature Ted taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second-division women's team.

The first three seasons saw the American football coach, who had no prior experience with soccer, agreeing to coach a struggling team of has-beens and disinterested rookies. With kindness and good humor, Ted transformed A.F.C. Richmond and won the hearts of not only his players but also the team's management. The show received acclaim for its warm tone and performances, and holds an overall 90% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. Ted Lasso peaked with Season 2, which scored 98% on the aggregator. The third season's consensus on Rotten Tomatoes reads, "Ted Lasso's third and possibly final season takes time to find its footing, but patient viewers who believe will find that they appreciate Coach as much as ever."

'Ted Lasso' Will Return in a Matter of Months

Per Apple TV's synopsis for the fourth season, "Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would." The upcoming season sees Sudeikis back as Ted, along with Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, and Goldstein. New cast members include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely. The fourth season of Ted Lasso will premiere on Apple TV this summer. You can catch up with the Emmy-winning previous seasons until then, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
