It’s been several years since an episode of Ted Lasso began streaming on Apple TV, but the show is still proving to be one of the biggest sleeper hits for the streamer. At the time of writing, Ted Lasso remains the #5 most popular show on Apple TV, even outperforming newer shows such as Severance and Slow Horses. The show does fall short of other new arrivals like Hijack (starring Idris Elba) and Pluribus (led by Rhea Seehorn), but it’s a testament to the greatness of Ted Lasso that it’s still a top-five performer nearly three years removed from its latest episode.

Apple TV and Jason Sudeikis abruptly ended Ted Lasso after three seasons, which came as a shock to fans, considering the show had the longevity to be around for years. However, over a year after the series went off the air, there were whispers that Apple TV was working on another season of Ted Lasso. Things were kept under wraps until last year, when this news was made official, and the streamer confirmed that a fourth season was in production. Apple TV just debuted new images from Ted Lasso Season 4 earlier this week and confirmed that the show would return this summer.

Near the end of July last year, Apple TV shared the first teaser from behind the scenes of Ted Lasso Season 4. Production for the show is still ongoing, but it's expected to wrap any day now. The show had scenes to film in both the UK and Kansas, along with the schedules of all its stars to work around. Now that we know Season 4 will be released this summer, it can easily be considered one of the most anticipated TV returns of the year.

Did ‘Ted Lasso’ Win Any Emmys?

During its first three seasons, Ted Lasso won 13 Emmys at the Television Academy Awards. It won awards for Best Comedy Series, Best Lead Actor (Jason Sudeikis), Best Guest Actor (Sam Richardson), Best Supporting Actor (Brett Goldstein), Best Supporting Actress (Hannah Waddingham), and more. The show has been widely acclaimed as Apple TV’s best series, and although the streamer has released higher-rated hits like Severance and Pluribus, nothing quite strikes the comfort chords like Ted Lasso. It’s fair to say there are lofty expectations for Season 4, which will follow Ted coaching AFC Richmond’s new women’s division.
