In over three years at Collider, senior author Jake has now penned over 2500 articles covering a wide range of TV and film for the resources, lists, utilities, news, and interview teams. Alongside interviewing stars such as Selin Hizli, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Harlan Coben, and Chelsea Peretti, Jake was lucky enough to visit the set of Aardman and Netflix's Wallace and Gromit: A Vengeance Most Fowl in 2024, getting the chance to chat with four-time Academy Award winner Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. Jake has also worked for other publications, including Agents of Fandom.
Could a return to Twilight be on the cards? Well, if Kristen Stewart had her way, a new moon would be dawning on the hit YA vampire series. During a recent interview at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Creative Impact Awards, Stewart admitted Twilight was the movie she'd most love to remake from the director's chair. "Imagine if we had like, a huge budget and a bunch of love and support. I don’t know… I would love to readapt," she said. "Yeah, sure, I’ll do the remake. I’m doing it! I’m committed!"
Although there is still a long way to go before this Stewart dream might ever come to fruition, it seems the love for Twilight hasn't faded a bit. At the time of writing, director David Slade's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is one of the ten most-streamed movies on HBO Max in the U.S. In fact, the film is joined by all four other entries in the franchise: 2008's Twilight, 2009's The Twilight Saga: New Moon, 2011's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, and 2012's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. Eclipse is the highest-grossing movie from the franchise in the U.S., breaking the $300 million mark and earning just $3 million more than New Moon. A synopsis for the third installment reads:
"Danger once again surrounds Bella, as a string of mysterious killings terrorizes Seattle and a malicious vampire continues her infernal quest for revenge. Amid the tumult, Bella must choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob, knowing that her decision may ignite the long-simmering feud between vampire and werewolf."
Was 'Eclipse' a Critical Hit?
The Twilight Saga as a whole always proved divisive among critics. Eclipse was no different, earning a 46% score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics' consensus on the site reading, "Stuffed with characters and overly reliant on uninspired dialogue, Eclipse won't win The Twilight Saga many new converts, despite an improved blend of romance and action fantasy." But what did Collider think? In our review from the time, Matt Goldberg awarded it a D-, writing, "As to the movie itself, I would say it's the least terrible one so far. I can't stand the subtext, but on a technical level it surpasses Twilight (which upon further review is worse than I originally thought) and New Moon."
The Twilight Saga is streaming on HBO Max. Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming stories.
