The Marvel Cinematic Universe's new TV show is out now. Marvel's 2025 projects included multiple TV shows, with some of them being in the MCU, like Daredevil: Born Again season 1, and others being part of standalone universes, such as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 1. 2026's Marvel releases are going to follow the same plan with MCU and non-franchise projects.
That said, the first MCU TV show of the year is one that introduces a powerful new hero and brings back multiple players from other Marvel movies and series. Still, it is not so connected to the rest of the MCU to the point where it would be crucial to watch another project to understand what is going on.
Marvel's New MCU Series Is Out Now
Wonder Man was originally scheduled for a December 2025 release. However, Marvel thought it would be better to delay the series' release by one month to avoid it getting lost amid the Christmas programming. Now, all 8 episodes of Wonder Man have become available to stream on Disney+ as of January 27 at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET.
Wonder Man stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known to superhero fans as the DC villain Black Manta in the Jason Momoa Aquaman movies, as Simon Williams. The character is the titular Wonder Man, though Simon is not defined by his powers, but by his desire to become a successful actor, which he can do by getting the lead role in the Wonder Man movie remake.
While Simon is a new MCU character introduced in Wonder Man, the MCU's new TV show also brings back other Marvel players the fans are already familiar with. Sir Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery, the fake Mandarin, who quickly befriends Simon and becomes his mentor in Hollywood. Arian Moayed also comes back as Agent Cleary, a Department of Damage Control agent.
Why Marvel's Wonder Man Is Worth Watching
Wonder Man is the perfect MCU series for those who have not checked out some recent Marvel releases due to superhero fatigue or the thought of having to catch up on MCU "homework" to understand what is going on. While there are callbacks to Iron Man 3 due to Trevor Slattery's past as the fake Mandarin, only watching the MCU series is enough to understand what is going on.

Wonder Man Review: Redefining The Superhero Genre With A Grounded & Moving Exploration Of Unlikely Friends
Wonder Man charmingly explores the vast potential of the superhero genre beyond the narrow focus that appears to have induced superhero fatigue.
The Marvel series is a refreshing story about a man with powers who does not want to be a superhero. Instead, the show is focused on Simon's pursuit of his acting dream. Wonder Man is funny, with Simon and Trevor's chemistry being the show's driving force. This is a buddy comedy with an MCU backdrop, and Wonder Man succeeds at what it sets out to do.
