Timothee Chalamet is celebrating a major career milestone after earning a history-making Oscar nomination, while Elle Fanning shared an emotional reaction to her very first nod as the 98th Academy Awards nominations.

On Thursday morning, Chalamet, 30, received his third Best Actor nomination for his role in Marty Supreme, which emerged as a major awards contender with nine nominations overall.

Shortly after the nominations were revealed, the actor reposted coverage of the announcement on Instagram, simply captioning it, 'BIG DREAAAAM!!!!!'

He followed up with a second post encouraging fans to 'dream big' as he shared the film's poster and reminded audiences that Marty Supreme hits IMAX theaters on January 30.

With the nod, Chalamet became the youngest actor to receive three Best Actor nominations since Marlon Brando in the 1950s.

He was first nominated in 2018 for Call Me By Your Name and again in 2025 for portraying Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

Last year, he lost the Oscar to Adrien Brody for The Brutalist.

Chalamet has previously spoken candidly about the sting of awards-season losses.

'If there's five people at an awards show, and four people go home losing, you don't think those four people are at the restaurant like, 'Damn, we didn't win?' he told Vogue in November 2025. 'People can call me a try-hard, and they can say whatever the f**k. But I'm the one actually doing it here.'

He echoed those sentiments during an appearance on SiriusXM, calling it 'uniquely hilarious' to go home empty-handed after preparing an acceptance speech.

'You think to yourself, 'You narcissistic arrogant prick. On what planet did you think you were gonna use this?'

Elsewhere on nominations morning, Fanning, 27, marked a career first after earning a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance in Sentimental Value.

The actress shared a screenshot of a FaceTime call capturing her real-time reaction to the news, appearing visibly emotional as she spoke with director Joachim Trier and his wife, Helle Bendixen Trier.

'IS THIS REAL!?!?!?! IS THIS A DREAM!?!?!?! I can't catch my breath. I am in absolute shock,' Fanning wrote in the caption.

She revealed that her mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt were with her at home, 'to scream and hug and cry,' adding that she was overwhelmed to be recognized alongside the women in her category.

Support poured in from fellow stars, including Brie Larson, who commented, 'Love you sis!! You and the film are just so so beautiful!!!!!!' while Riley Keough added, 'Yesssss Elle,' and Bijou Phillips wrote, 'Congratulations buddy! So proud of you!'

As contenders reflected on nominations morning, several shared their reactions with Variety.

Meanwhile, Sinners made history as the most-nominated film ever, with producers Ryan Coogler and Zinzi Coogler admitting the achievement hadn't fully sunk in yet.

Other acting nominees included Ethan Hawke, who earned his fifth Oscar nod for Blue Moon, and Amy Madigan, who said she was 'stunned' by her first nomination in four decades for Weapons.

With first-time nominees, record-breaking milestones, and emotional reactions pouring in across Hollywood, the 2026 Oscars race is already shaping up to be one of the most memorable in years.

Jessie Buckley, who received a nomination for Best Actress for her role as Agnes Hathaway in the 2025 film Hamnet, was quick to react to her costar Paul Mescal getting left out.

Jessie Buckley, who received a nomination for Best Actress for her role as Agnes Hathaway in the 2025 film Hamnet, expressed nothing but gratitude for the recognition; seen earlier this month

'I think he's extraordinary in this film. I know I've met a partner for life in doing this with him,' Buckley told The Hollywood Reporter after nominations were announced. 'I don't know what to say apart from he is, to me, my absolute. His artistry is something that will continue to grow and be a theme in so many different ways.'

She continued: 'I know what we created together is something that's so special to us, and I hold that so dearly in my heart, and there's no part of Agnes that exists without Paul. There's no part of what I created or what we created in this story which exists without Paul and what he poured into this story. So what is recognized belongs to him as much as him being recognized in his own category would.'

Still in a statement about her own nomination, Buckley expressed nothing but gratitude as she said she felt 'so proud to be standing beside all these extraordinary artists and fellow nominees whose work has inspired' and moved her.

'Chloé Zhao you cracked my heart wide open when you asked me to step into Maggie O'Farrell's world and create our Agnes beside you,' she said in the statement. 'Paul, there is no Agnes without you. I'm so grateful to have been part of this story with the incredible village of artists I shared it with. To make anything at all is an absolute triumph, and this recognition belongs to every artist who bravely pours themselves into the work and journeys towards the undiscovered landscapes of their souls. I'm delighted, deeply grateful and humbled to be part of this community. Thank you.'
