The Transporter series was the franchise that cemented Jason Statham’s tough, no-nonsense action movie persona and locked in the screen image he would build his entire career around. Now, the final film in the trilogy, Transporter 3, is seeing a major resurgence on streaming. The 2008 sequel was recently added to free streamer Tubi as part of its January update, and it has suddenly surged in popularity. According to FlixPatrol, Transporter 3 has climbed to the #5 spot on Tubi’s most-watched movies in the U.S. list, which proves that Statham’s brand of action still pulls in big numbers.

The series stars Statham as Frank Martin, a highly skilled mercenary driver in France who transports illegal packages for anonymous clients, and he does so while following three strict rules. No names. No changes to the deal once it is finalized. And never open the package. Transporter 3 adds a Crank-like twist to this setup by having Frank coerced into transporting a young woman named Valentina (Natalya Rudakova) to Odessa, with explosive bracelets locked onto their wrists that will detonate if they stray more than 75 feet from the vehicle.

The Transporter movies were never meant to be Oscar contenders. They all carry rotten scores on Rotten Tomatoes and are best enjoyed as turn-your-brain-off action flicks, but Transporter 3 is widely considered the lowest point in the trilogy. Statham brings his usual intensity and commitment to the film, but it’s dragged down by shaky camerawork and sloppy editing, which makes it feel rougher than the rest of the trilogy. It holds the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score in the series, with a 40% critic rating and a slightly higher 48% audience score. Still, it is exactly the kind of easy, throwback action movie that works perfectly on streaming during a lazy January night, which helps explain why it is suddenly blowing up again.

Jason Statham Is Back in Theaters This January With Yet Another Action Thriller

After The Beekeeper and A Working Man, Statham is returning to theaters on January 30 with another hard-hitting action film titled Shelter, directed by Ric Roman Waugh of Greenland 2: Migration. The film stars Statham as a former MI6 agent who is forced to protect himself and a teenage girl from assassins. That premise, combined with the fact that it is a Statham movie landing in January, pretty much says it all about the kind of movie it is. It definitely will not end up on anyone’s best movies of 2026 lists, but it delivers exactly what it promises: Statham taking out plenty of bad guys with methodical precision. Shelter has debuted with a strong 74% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is being cited as Waugh’s best action outing so far, thanks to a surprising amount of emotional heft and a stellar supporting cast.

Transporter 3 is available to stream on Tubi. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
