Blindspot, the FBI thriller that ran for five seasons on NBC, suddenly leaps to the top of the charts. Debuting in September 2015 and running until July 2020, Blindspot opens memorably with a heavily tattooed woman found inside a bag in Times Square. She has no memory of who she is, with the ink on her body providing the clues to her identity.
The thriller series was led by Thor's Jaimie Alexander as Jane Doe, with mainstays in the ensemble also including Sullivan Stapleton, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza, and Ashley Johnson. But over the course of its run, the cast of Blindspot also expanded to include several supporting and special guests. That includes Bill Nye, with the famous science guy playing a fictionalized version of himself in a recurring part.
Blindspot has swiftly leaped to near the top of the iTunes charts in the U.S. Currently, as of January 25, it is at the #4 spot after going all the way to #1 on January 24. It is also worth mentioning that, in addition to being available digitally, Blindspot is also available on home media and can be streamed on Netflix in the U.S.
Created by Martin Gero and lasting for 100 episodes, Blindspot begins from the point when the Jane Doe character is discovered by the FBI in New York. The series looks at how Jane Doe ended up at that point, which is made more difficult because of the amnesia she suffers from. She's aided in her quest by Agent Weller (played by Stapleton) and an entire team.
Over the course of the series, it emerges that Weller may be more connected to Jane Doe's mystery than he first realizes. The resurgence of Blindspot is not entirely out of left field, considering the show's history. It averaged close to 10 million viewers per episode during its first season, ranking as one of network television's top dramas for a time.
One of the fun things to watch during the course of the crime thriller is the number of familiar faces that pass through the NBC show for an arc. Nye, playing the father to one of the main characters, isn't the only one. There is also future Heated Rivalry star François Arnaud, The Good Wife's Archie Panjabi, and 9-1-1's Tracie Thoms.
Although the series finale aired nearly six years ago, there are still questions about Blindspot. But on the whole, viewers can go into it knowing it tells a complete story.
