Layne is a longtime contributor for ScreenRant and other Valnet brands. Her main focus is entertainment in pop culture, sitcoms, and reality TV.

Layne always knew she had a passion for writing and has her Bachelor's in Communications, a Minor in Marketing, and a Master's in Administration.

When she isn't writing or editing about the latest in the entertainment industry, she's typically spending time outside with her family. Hiking, walking, or jogging with her kids is where she wants to be.

When it comes to shows streaming on Netflix or anything Bravo-related, she's your gal. She loves rewatching reality TV shows like The Real Housewives and Southern Charm, but she adores watching sitcoms like Abbott Elementary, The Big Bang Theory, and Parks and Recreation.

The mockumentary Modern Family may have concluded six years ago, but it remains on the popular trend lists worldwide in the streaming world. The series follows one family in three very different households: The Pritchett-Delgados, the Dunphys, and the Pritchett-Tuckers, as they venture into the intricacies of family dynamics.

After debuting in 2009, Modern Family aired 11 seasons before concluding in 2020. The series and its cast won numerous awards over the years for the critically acclaimed show. While the series did well for ABC, the consistency with which the show trends is astounding.

Modern Family is the ultimate classic comfort show that deserves to be rewatched time and time again. It seems like many viewers agree, since the show is currently trending worldwide on Disney+, according to FlixPatrol.

Modern Family Never Gets Old

With 11 seasons and 250 episodes, Modern Family was an incredibly successful show. The series hit a sweet spot of relatable parenting moments, sensible humor, and physical comedy. The writers and actors nailed the complexities of different family dynamics.

Although the family members loved one another, that didn't mean they didn't have conflicts. The highs and lows of the families arguing, making mistakes, and coming together never got old.

Seeing Cam and Mitchell compete against each other (despite being married), Phil making a fool out of himself, and Gloria and Jay's sassy relationship are still some of the reasons why the show hasn't aged poorly.

What Makes Modern Family So Bingeable

A large reason why Modern Family is so bingeable is that the show is made up of standalone episodes. Viewers can watch any episode and follow the storyline without needing to see every single episode from the first season.

As a comedy, the series takes little mental effort to binge. The episodes are short, snappy, smart, and easy to follow. Because the series follows the intricacies of family, marriage, and friendship, Modern Family is a warm and loving comfort show to binge. It's one of those shows that can be followed intensely for the fast-paced humor or as background noise in the house.

The characters are addicting, with their hilarious cold-opens that beg you to watch another episode time and time again. The series is consistent, which can appear as comfort, perfect for binging.

Will Modern Family Ever Return?

Modern Family ended for a multitude of reasons, not because ratings were low or cast feuds. Theoretically, if the series wanted to come back, it could, but that's not the case.

Modern Family reboots and reunions have been rumored, but nothing has been solidified by the cast. Over the years, the cast has been asked about the potential of getting back together, but interest has been inconsistent.

According to Deadline, the closest the cast ever got to an official spinoff or reboot was a spinoff that involved Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell Pritchett) and Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker) and their life in Missouri. The series ended with the Pritchett-Tuckers leaving California for Missouri, so it felt like a natural place to pick up.

Sadly, the network passed on the spinoff, and Modern Family fans are back to square one. Luckily, the cast is not opposed to getting back together, but the project would have to be the right fit for all.
