Tamera is a Movies and TV Interview Editor for Collider. She mostly works behind the scenes for the site, and still can't believe she gets to write and edit for all the things she loves.

In her free time, she's hoarding recipes she'll never make, writing, tending her Animal Crossing island, and rewatching Friends, Gilmore Girls, or her comfort scary movies.

For our next screening event, Collider is excited to announce that we’re teaming up with Saban Films to offer readers in Los Angeles the opportunity to see writer-director Emma Higgins’ acclaimed feature directorial debut, Sweetness, in theaters before its digital home release. This R-rated thriller is “warped depravity in pop bubblegum packaging” about a young girl’s love and admiration that takes a sinister turn — is there any other way to bring in Valentine’s Day weekend? Join us for this extra special treat, where we’ll enjoy a pre-screening reception, as well as an exclusive Q&A with Higgins after the movie. Read on for the full details on how you can enter for your chance to win free tickets, plus the premiere of the movie’s newest poster art!

In Sweetness, Rylee Hill, played by Kate Hallett (Women Talking), is a teenage girl crushing hard on her favorite singer, the tattooed, lyrical genius and rock star, Payton Adler (Herman Tømmeraas), whose posters she has plastered across her walls. When Rylee attends one of Payton’s concerts, all of her wildest dreams come true after she gets backstage and tracks him down. But this super fan soon discovers that her idol is spiraling into addiction. Taking matters into her own hands, Rylee is determined to save him, whether Payton wants that help or not. In a desperate attempt to rescue him, Rylee’s scheme spins out of control, and suddenly she’s kidnapped a famous rock star, keeping him trapped in her delusional efforts to “fix” him. It doesn’t take long for her adoration and compassion to take a bloody, frightening turn.

Sweetness premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival, where it was ranked as one of the fest’s best films. Starring Hallett, Tømmeraas (Ragnarok), Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead), Justin Chatwin (Shameless), Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Aya Furukawa (The Midnight Club), Sweetness marks Higgins’ first feature-length project as director after honing her filmmaking skills and unique visual style directing music videos for artists like Jessie Reyez, Tegan and Sara, Ingrid Andress, and more.
